On Wednesday, August 26, 2020, Women’s Equality Day and centennial of the 19th Amendment, members of the Vermont Suffrage Centennial Alliance invited residents throughout the state to commemorate the historic passage of the 19th Amendment, guaranteeing women the vote. Wearing suffrage white, 1920s hats, and Votes for Women sashes, participants displayed non-partisan signs and engaged in dialogue about the importance of voting. Gatherings were held in Barre, Burlington, Montpelier, Norwich, St. Albans, St. Johnsbury, Vergennes, and Worcester.
