The Vermont Suffrage Centennial Alliance: Celebrating 100 years of Women Voting

Led by the League of Women Voters of Vermont, the Vermont Suffrage Centennial Alliance (VSCA), in 2020, will join other groups nationwide to commemorate and celebrate 100 years of women voting in the United States.

Mission

To commemorate and celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Women’s Suffrage and to acknowledge its incomplete legacy.

Goals

▪ To educate Vermonters about the history and outcomes of women’s suffrage
▪ To engage women in the ongoing quest for equal rights and citizenship

Plans

▪ Inspire Vermonters to incorporate centennial themes into events, exhibits, and programs
▪ Provide educational opportunities for Vermonters to learn the inspiring and dramatic history of women’s suffrage
▪ Help showcase events celebrating the centennial in our state
▪ Host a statewide 2020 event
▪ Discover, provide access to, and share stories brought to light by historical records, artifacts, and ephemera
▪ Inspire voters to appreciate and exercise the right to vote
